I bought one of these at a local furniture store for +...and it deteriorated in the washer or dryer, so I needed to replace it. I didn't want to spend another so I took a chance on this one. I thought it would be cheap and plastic-sheet-like, but its just like the expensive one I was replacing. It has a nice rubbery membrane and a terry top with nice, stretchy sides that fits my mattress and pillow topper with room to spare.

High quality, safe for washer / dryer use. Won't melt like the "plastic" waterproof mattress. Even if waterproofing isn't your concern, good for keeping sweat / body dander off the mattress. I got one for every bed in the house.

I've gotta admit I really like these mattress protectors. They don't change the feel of our mattresses, nor cause overheating and sweating like our previous protectors.. They fit nicely on our low profile latex mattresses (which are slightly longer & skinnier than our regular mattresses) They also fit our thicker profile mattresses. They wash nicely and dry quickly. The kids spilled an entire glass of water in the center of one and none of it went through. (the top is completely water proof but the sides are not, so if water spills down the side it may or may not protect the mattress) either way they're a great buy! We are very satisfied with our purchase. We will be purchasing more mattress protectors and replacing our current pillow protectors with these as well.

We were so impressed with the quality of this mattress protection. The price was fabulous and it was delivered just as promised. We are extremely pleased. We put it on our brand new select comfort bed. It is soft, comfortable and noiseless. We love it.

This is a nice pad for the money. It's very similar to the pad I'm replacing, which cost twice as much five years ago.

The top fabric is heavy and tightly woven, and there's plenty of fluffy spun polyester for padding underneath. The sides are made of good quality stretchy fabric that I anticipate will hold up well. The pad is sized perfectly and can accommodate my thick pillowtop mattress without squishing the edges.

The only reason I'm not giving the pad five stars is because the craftsmanship is less than great. Stitching is wavy and really crooked, and one of the seams is sewn funky. Looks funny but should be perfectly serviceable.

I haven't washed the pad yet, but I'll update this review when I do.

Well, the pad has been washed now, and it's still looking pretty good. I had to repair the funky seam, as it started unraveling. As much as I like the pad (especially the quality materials), I can't give it more than 4 stars. I would buy it again, anyways.

This mattress pad is awesome. Very high quality construction. I love the stretchy sides that go over the corners of the mattress - thick material and streches with ease. The loft of the padding is excellent. Highly recommend this product!

Having purchased numerous mattress pads (because most of them are utter garbage) I was very impressed when I received this. The actual padding is very nice and a lot thicker than most pads I've seen and also doesn't look like you picked it out of a dollar store (it has a quality look to it, 300 thread count, I believe).

Now, where this really shines is the part where it isn't padded (the fabric that goes on the side of the bed that you tuck in). Most pads have this weird filter-looking material that you can easily poke your finger through. This pad has a very nice quality material thats quite stretchy but very durable. This is a quality pad and I expect it will last me a long, long time.

I read reviews before purchasing this mattress pad and noticed that there was a commment on drying this item. I figured that if I followed the washing instructions, I would be fine. I purchased the pad, LOVED how it fit and felt on my bed... and then washed it about a week later. I followed the directions and used low heat. However, when I took the mattress pad out of the dryer, the backing had melted the whole thing into a ball! When I tried to pull it apart, tiny melted pieces dropped all over my floor. I'm trying to return the item now, but it's a hassle. On top of all that frustration, my Eqyption Cotton sheets were in the dryer at the time and are sporadically covered in patches of tiny melted plastic, also. SO, it's fits and feels great... but if you dry it, do not use ANY heat!

This mattress protector is a must have. I initially bought one for my little boy because we were potty training. Now I have one on every single bed in the house. They are excellent insurance against any sort of spills, so now I don't worry about damaging our nice mattresses. They are so thin that you don't even notice they are on your bed, but they keep all of the liquid from going through. My daughter spilled an entire bottle of Gatorade on my sheets last week. Nothing went through to the mattress. It was amazing.

This isn't quite what I thought I was getting, but I'm not disappointed. I would say it feels like a kitchen towel with a rubbery-type coating on the back. I was wondering if it would be as breathable as the packaging claims. I was pleasantly surprised, it feels a lot like you're sleeping on the mattress on the showroom of the mattress store. I'm used to sleeping with thick mattress pad between me and the mattress. This is interesting, but again I think I like it.

We have owned a Protect-A-Bed Premium Mattress Protector since we purchased our new mattress when we got married, two and a half years ago. At first we were a little put off by the price, seeing as how we could have purchased another brand for at least half the price. The retailer ensured us that it was the best mattress protector on the market; and we have come to agree with him.

First of all, we didn't want a bulky mattress protector that would change the feel of the very nice mattress we had just purchased. And we didn't want something that would make us sweat, or would crinkle, or any of the other annoying characteristics generally associated with mattress protectors.

We did, however, want something that would protect our mattress, so that it would remain under warranty. We also wanted something that, in turn, would protect us.

We have found ourselves to be so pleased with the Protect-A-Bed Premium mattress protectors that we have purchased one for every bed in our house.

The top cover is a small weave cotton terry cloth fabric, which is backed by a polyurethane film, which is waterproof and breathable and acts as a protective barrier (for both you and the mattress). The sides are a stretchable cotton that fits the mattress snuggly, allowing no indication that it is there once the sheet is on the bed.

If you're looking for a mattress "pad". This product is not for you.

If you're looking for "undectable" peace of mind. This product is for you.

I was skeptical about buying this waterproof mattress cover sight-unseen as I was concerned about it being "plastic-y" and/or not fitting my new (large) mattress very well. I was very pleasantly surprised when I unpacked and placed the pad on my queen-sized mattress. It is not "plastic-y" at all, but is made of a very soft and flexible fabric. The surface is velveteen-like and the sides are somewhat mesh-like. It easily fit over my mattress, no forcing or tugging, but it is not slack either. The stitching is tight and uniform and overall it seems to be a high quality product. I did not give this product 5 stars as I have not tested whether it is indeed waterproof. Assuming it is waterproof, I recommend this product without hesitation, especially for those who want to protect their new mattress from stains to maintain the warranty.

I bought the queen size Allerzip mattress protector in February of '09 for .99, and it has been great. After putting this on my mattress, and of course having an exterminator come in to do his thing, I started to notice immediately that I wasn't getting bitten anymore. So it's definitely a quality product.

Now it is 2 months later, and my roommate is getting a new mattress so I told him to pick up one of these Allerzip protectors and then we saw the new price...4.99! (used to be .99 on Amazon)

So the price has skyrocketed from to 4 in 2 months?! Allerzip, you make an excellent product (it is great, seriously), but what is going on here? A 65% price hike seems a little steep.

I ordered two of these for beds in our home. The mattress encasement is well made and overlaps to provide good protection. The zipper is well sealed and they provide a tie wrap to secure it.

It has a terry cloth like top and a satin type stretchy material for around the sides. It is comfortable to sleep on. I had no trouble getting it on my deep mattress at all.

Sleep Central had the best price and shipped very quickly.

I was very happy to find this type product in Twin XL size. Why Twin XL bedding is so difficult to find is beyond me. Now back to the review.

I was very pleased with the design and apparent quality of this mattress pad. It fit on the mattress like a fitted sheet would and then we did put a fitted sheet over the pad. The mattress for this bed is the special Temper-Pedic memory foam which unfortunately costs approximately ,000 for the mattress and being a foam-like material, it REALLY soaks up liquids. The cost of the mattress pad was reasonable and the mattress pad itself was soft and did not make any crinkling noises such as plastic would do.

The first time the older adult experienced urinary incontinence during the night, he slept through the "accident" and when he woke up later and informed me of the accident, I immediately went to his room at 3:00 AM and stripped the sheet and the mattress pad. I was very disappointed to find that liquid from the accident soaked through the top sheet and this waterproof mattress pad and had wet a fairly large portion of the foam mattress under the sheet AND the "waterproof" mattress pad. I immediately stripped the bedding off of the bed, however, the mattress could not be used until I could clean and dry it (an all-day job).

The older gentleman who had the accident has an enlarged prostate and normally does not pass a large quantity of urine at one time plus he was wearing underwear and sweatpants at the time of the accident. I was very disappointed that even with all of that, the mattress got wet.

We washed the mattress pad in cold/warm water on the gentle cycle and used Woolite as a detergent - in order to protect the mattress pad as much as possible when washing it on the gentle cycle too. After two hours in the dryer on the air fluff setting, the mattress pad survived the washing and drying with no visible damage. This mattress pad was back on the mattress that night - complete with a fitted top sheet again. Until we can figure out a better solution, we bought some adult incontinence underwear-type shorts to wear to bed - in addition to the above. We consider the addition of the incontinence underwear a temporary solution as we know it caused the older gentleman much embarrassment and another blow to his dignity. I am on Amazon.com today searching for something else to use in combination with this "waterproof" mattress pad.

I have considered buying another of these waterproof mattress pads and using two of them at a time, however, since the single waterproof pad allowed so much liquid to reach the mattress, I think I will be searching for something that is absolutely waterproof to use under this "waterproof" mattress pad and a fitted bottom sheet. I am hoping to find something that is definitely waterproof to put under this mattress pad that does not make any sound and will stay in place.

Knowing that someday my wife or I could find ourselves in this type of situation, we are more concerned with preserving the dignity of the older gentleman (as much as possible) by finding a workable solution that would eliminate the need of the incontinence underwear (which we know robbed the gentleman of much more of his already compromised dignity. We must save the mattress as he needs it for other health concerns and we cannot afford to buy a ,000 mattress should this one become ruined.

Bottom line, the waterproof mattress pad did not prove to be waterproof for us. A large cold beverage was spilled on the bed with this waterproof mattress pad and a fitted bottom sheet. Being there when this happened, I quickly threw a towel on the spill and stripped the bed of its fitted sheet and waterproof mattress pad as fast as humanly possible. Luckily the mattress was not wet, but I could feel a slight dampness on the mattress after removing all of the bedding. From the spill to completely stripping the bed took less than two minutes - yet the mattress did get slightly damp in that short amount of time. That, to me, is not "waterproof". You might want to keep our experiences with this waterproof mattress pad in mind when looking for a similar solution to the problem the older gentleman we care for in our house.

I wanted to protect my brand new fancy mattress, knowing that perspiration and body debris was about the only thing that would ruin it over time and a mattress condom is very hard to get on and off compared to a stretch pad on a big and heavy bed.

The size is perfect for a pillow top queen and the sheer sides are adequate, not too thin and tuck under nicely. It's a waterproof layer in between two cotton layers and when you wash it you will need to spin dry it at least twice, when they say waterproof they mean it and the water pools in the random pockets that get created when washed.

If this pad is durable over years' time, it will be cheap insurance for an expensive mattress, just don't overheat it when drying it and damage the inner layer.

I thought for the 0+ price tag the material would be more durable and thick. I read online journals discouraging consumers from purchasing "cheap" mattress encasements because they tear easily and so on. I didn't think Allerzip, which was praised for its product dependability, would be categorized as "cheap." I did not wash it prior to encasing my mattress, and 2 weeks after carefully inspecting the encasement, I saw a tear on the corner. It must have happened when I was doing what people normally do on beds: lay, sleep, sit, and roll around a bit. So caution to others, it rips VERY easily, and I imagine washing it in a non-agitating washing machine is a definite must. As for trapping bed bugs inside, without any tears or rips, I think it will stand up to the job, but regular visual inspection is a must because bed bugs may still locate to the bed, at which time, spotting then removing them is more easily done.

my husband and i had no idea why we were getting bitten at night. i thought spiders at first but quickly discovered we had bed bugs. i had no idea what to do and came across this option. i covered my mattress and box spring with the bedding encasement and have had no problems at all with any more bites. i highly recommend this bedding if you have a small infestation- it works 100%.
